MY NEWBORN BABY PICTURE

This is my newborn picture. Mother
says that the delivery room was full
of doctors and nurses when I was born.
My sister Sue had died a year earlier
and they knew how much my mom
wanted a baby girl. They all clapped
when I arrived. I was breech and had
lots of hair.
6 Months Old
Here I am at 6 months old. My hair was naturally curly and had a lot of red in it. Mother used to wrap strands of my hair around her finger and make little ringlets. She used to love to comb my hair out in the sun.

ONE YEAR OLD

This is me when I was one year old. I am with my brother Bob. Bob was always a very kind brother who took good care of me.

My sister Michelle was born 13 months and 13 days after me. Mother was ecstatic to have 2 little girls. She always kept us very clean, and dressed us cute. Our dresses usually matched. We are pictured above with our Grandmother Stirland. She loved us very much, maybe because she had so many grandsons and only 3 grand daughters!
DANCE FESTIVAL DRESSES

Michelle and I attended Hurricane Elementary School. Each grade spent months preparing for the annual spring dance festival and the dances got more complicated the older we got. The dance festival always began with the GRAND MARCH. It was held in the old gym and the audience sat up in the bleachers. By the time we got to 5th and 6th grade, we were square dancing and had boys for partners. We were very nervous about who our partner would be and our teachers made the assignment. It always seemed that the popular kids were paired together. Most of the girls got brand new dresses for the occasion. It was a very big deal. Mother always made our dresses every year. The girls usually got their first pair of nylons and high heels for the dance festival in sixth grade. We thought we were really grown up.
